The Sharks barely beat the Penguins by the score of 2 to 1. The game started off at a fast pace. At 2:24 Jody Shelly got in a fight with Gotdard and won it easily.
Then at 10:12 of the 1st period Joe Pavelski scored an short handed goal to make the score 1 to 0 sharks. That about wrapped up the 1st period with the Sharks taking 6 shots and The Penguins only taking 3.
The 2nd period wasn’t as exciting as the 1st. There wasn’t any scoring but the sharks took 19 shots to the Penguins 5 shots.
The Sharks did much better in the 3rd period. At 12:52 Mike Grier scored a beautiful goal to make the score 2 to 0. Then 2 minutes and 25 seconds later the Penguins scored a goal on 1 of the only 3 shots they took in the 3rd period. Their shot total was a small 11 shots. In the 3rd period the Sharks took 9 shots totaling out to 39 shots for the game.

The Sharks beat Columbus 5 to 2. It was a very exciting game. The first period didn’t go so well. At the end of the period it was 1-0 columbus from a power play goal. The second period went much better. The first goal came from Jonathan Cheechoo at 4:54. But then 24 seconds later Columbus scored. Then at 8:12 in the second Milan Michalek scored tying the game at 2 each. Then 1 minute 17 seconds later Marleau scored a goal giving the Sharks a 1 goal lead. That goal would be the game winner. Then in the third period the sharks pounded in 2 more goals. One goal from Marleau at 5:19 and the other one coming from Vlasic at 8:17. That was all the scoring for the game. Nabokov faced 33 shots and stopped 31 of them. The Sharks took 24 shots and scored on 5 of them.

Jeff Friesen had tried out for the sharks 2008-2009 sharks team but was the last cut. Tomas Plihal took the last spot on the roster.

The Sharks go 4-0 for the first time ever. If they win the game against Anaheim friday Coach McClellan will be the first coach in the NHL to go 5-0 with a new team.
