Sharks Finally Get A Win

Sharks Predators Hockey

Game #3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs didn’t start so well for the Sharks. Just :17 seconds into the game Marleau got a 4 minute high sticking penalty. Then at :35 seconds Getzlaf took an Interference penalty which helped kill 2 minutes off the double minor to Marleau. The Sharks were able to kill off the rest of Marleau’s minor. The next exciting moment came at 5:25  both Grier and Rob Niedermayer  both got roughing minors. Then just :9 seconds Blake got a goal from the point after his shot was kicked out by Hiller into Drew Miller and went into the net. Then :16 seconds later Pronger got a holding penalty. Unfortunately the Sharks couldn’t capitalize on their 4 on 3.  Then at 9:55 Pavelski took a tripping that turned into a Power Play goal for Bobby Ryan  at 11:12 tying the game at 1 for each team. Then at 11:33 Getzlaf took a hooking penalty which resulted in a Power Play goal for Dan Boyle at 13:07. The next goal came at 14:50 for Wisniewski that tied the game at 2. Nothing much happened until 18:58 when Murray and Parros got into a fight which Murray ended up winning. The period ended with the Ducks taking 8 shots and the Sharks taking 20 shots. The score was 2-2.

In the 2nd period only 2 goals were scored one was scored by Boyle at 1:05 and the other was scored by Pronger at 11:50. The only penalty was a roughing penalty at 7:27 awarded to Mike Grier. The Sharks took 8 shots and the Ducks took 13. The score was tied at 3 to 3.

The 3rd period was the period that had the least amount of goals and penalties but was the most exciting. The only goal was scored by Marleau at 10:33 on a Power Play from a hooking penalty that Perry took at 9:07. That ended the game with the Sharks taking 7 shots in the 3rd and taking 35 total. The Ducks took 9 shots in the 3rd and taking 30 total shots. The Sharks finally got a win breaking a 4 game losing streak (counting regular season and post season goals). The Ducks are leading the series 2 to 1.

Sharks Upset Canucks in Over Time Victory

The Sharks played a really quiet game in the first 2 periods. All the action happened for the Canucks even thought there wasn’t much scoring or penalties. At 4:26 the Canucks took a Cross Checking penalty which was successfully stopped. Then at 12:38 Pyatt scored a goal that went above Nabakov’s left shoulder to make it  1 to 0 Canucks. After that the Sharks tried as hard as they could but couldn’t seem to score. The Sharks took 8 shots and the Canucks only took 2 shots.

The 2nd period had no scoring at all. At 5:21 Daniel Sedin took a Hooking penalty. Then at 13:59 Semenov took a Hooking penalty. Lastly at 18:00 Ohlund took a Hooking penalty too. That ended the period with the Sharks taking 7 shots and the Canucks taking 6.

The 3rd period a lot more action than the 2nd did but not until 19:20 of the third period when Setoguchi buried a nice shot to tie the game at 1 each. That ended the game with the Sharks taking 10 shots to the Canucks 6. They were going into over time.

The Over Time period was really exciting because at 2:17 Daniel Sedin took a hooking penalty giving the Sharks a 4 on 3 Power Play. That turned out really well for the Sharks because at 3:08 Marleau scored the game winning goal for the Sharks. That was his second game winner in 2 games. The Sharks took 4 shots in the Over Time period and 29 total as the Canucks didn’t take any shots and only took 14 shots.

After the game was over it got really exciting. As the Sharks were celebrating their victor Sean O’Brien came over and punched one of the Sharks in the face. That got all of the Sharks over to the boards by the visitors entrance. The referees got O’Brien off the ice and gave him a 2 minute penalty for Roughing.
