2010 Playoff Challenge

NHL.COM is hosting a really fun game called the 2010 Playoff Challenge. It is a lot like the March Madness Tournament Bracket game on Yahoo except this is for the Playoffs. If anybody would like to join I have created a group:

Name: sharks

Password: sharksbeatavalanche

It is very easy to find on NHL.COM. It is on the right side underneath the top headlines category. There is a whole line of links and the link to the game is on the very last one. The Playoffs start tomorrow but don’t worry. The picks go by a round by round basis, so picks start over each round. Good Luck Sharks!

Sharks Finally Get A Win

Sharks Predators Hockey

Game #3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs didn’t start so well for the Sharks. Just :17 seconds into the game Marleau got a 4 minute high sticking penalty. Then at :35 seconds Getzlaf took an Interference penalty which helped kill 2 minutes off the double minor to Marleau. The Sharks were able to kill off the rest of Marleau’s minor. The next exciting moment came at 5:25  both Grier and Rob Niedermayer  both got roughing minors. Then just :9 seconds Blake got a goal from the point after his shot was kicked out by Hiller into Drew Miller and went into the net. Then :16 seconds later Pronger got a holding penalty. Unfortunately the Sharks couldn’t capitalize on their 4 on 3.  Then at 9:55 Pavelski took a tripping that turned into a Power Play goal for Bobby Ryan  at 11:12 tying the game at 1 for each team. Then at 11:33 Getzlaf took a hooking penalty which resulted in a Power Play goal for Dan Boyle at 13:07. The next goal came at 14:50 for Wisniewski that tied the game at 2. Nothing much happened until 18:58 when Murray and Parros got into a fight which Murray ended up winning. The period ended with the Ducks taking 8 shots and the Sharks taking 20 shots. The score was 2-2.

In the 2nd period only 2 goals were scored one was scored by Boyle at 1:05 and the other was scored by Pronger at 11:50. The only penalty was a roughing penalty at 7:27 awarded to Mike Grier. The Sharks took 8 shots and the Ducks took 13. The score was tied at 3 to 3.

The 3rd period was the period that had the least amount of goals and penalties but was the most exciting. The only goal was scored by Marleau at 10:33 on a Power Play from a hooking penalty that Perry took at 9:07. That ended the game with the Sharks taking 7 shots in the 3rd and taking 35 total. The Ducks took 9 shots in the 3rd and taking 30 total shots. The Sharks finally got a win breaking a 4 game losing streak (counting regular season and post season goals). The Ducks are leading the series 2 to 1.

Red Wings Win

large_00stanley.jpg The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanely Cup wednesday. The last game was very exciting. The penguins, down 3 to 1 with one minute thirty seconds left in the third pulled Fleury. They had many great chances. One chance they scored on. That made it 3 to 2. Then the pressure really came on. The penguins had many shots butt couldn’t score. Then with oner second left the penguins threw the puck through the crease butt couldn’t find a man.

Series For Penguins?

chris_osgood_80789344.jpg  The Red Wings are leading the Stanely Cup Finals series 2 to 0. Most people thought it was going to be a close series but both games have been won by a good margin. 3 to 4 goal lead each game. I think Detroit will win the Stanely Cup.
