Today the Sharks announced that they have signed Jordan White to a 1 game amateur tryout. He came at the right time because once again the Sharks have a player missing from the lineup, but for a different reason. Niittymaki has been placed on the injured reserve with a lower body injury. White will play against the Canucks tonight. White is a student at the University of British Columbia and the starting goalie for the University team.

As of Tuesday, the Sharks have acquired forwards Ben Eager and Kyle Wellwood. Ben Eager played for the Thrashers for the first half of this season and before that he came from the Blackhawks. Eager was traded to Atlanta from the Blackhawks because of their salary cap issues after they won the Stanley Cup. The Sharks traded a 5th round draft pick from this year’s draft for Eager. Along with Eager came Kyle Wellwood. Wellwood used to play for the Canucks and Ron Wilson’s Maple Leafs when he was claimed off of waivers on Tuesday by the Sharks. These players will help the Sharks out tremendously especially considering how Scott Nichol was suspended for his hit to the head against the coyotes on Monday. Both Wellwood and Eager have already practiced with the team and are expected to suit up against one of Wellwood’s former teams, the Canucks tomorrow.

Follow all of the Free Agency action in the 2010 off season. The Sharks have signed Goaltender Antero Nittymaki, resigned Defender Jay Leach, and they have made an offer on Niklas Hjalmarsson, which the Blackhawks have matched.
But what doesn’t make sense is that the Blackhawks traded Byfuglien and Versteeg just to qualify for their salary cap for the 2010-2011 season, but how could they match a 4 year-$14million contract? They must have a big trade in the works.

This month a lot has happened. The former captain, Rob Blake, has retired. GM Doug Wilson dished Brad Staubitz over to the Wild for a 5th round draft pick, and as of today the Sharks have released their schedule for next season. They will play their first season game against the Thrashers at home on October 16. The drafts will start on June 25. Also free agents will become available on July 1st
Speaking of free agents, the Sharks will not be resigning Nabby. So he will become a free agent. Could the Sharks be going after Turco? And so far they haven’t resigned Marleau either.

The Blackhawks sign on Brian Campbell for 8 year deal for $7.14 million. The Sharks would have kept him but they don’t have that much money to spend.
